Guyana continued their unbeaten run in the boy’s team tourney of the 33rd Junior Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) championship, downing hosts Barbados by a 4-1 margin yesterday in the Land of the Flying Fish.
With the win, Guyana move atop of group-A with two wins in as many matches while Barbados on the other hand claimed the second position with one win and a loss. Closing out the group in the cellar position with zero wins in their two fixtures was Bermuda.
On Tuesday in their opening fixture of the team tournament, the Guyanese overcame the Bermudians by a 3-2 margin.
Guyana now advances to the second stage of the group tournament today where they will face off with Jamaica who finished in the second position within group-B.
Meanwhile, the Barbadians will lock horns with group-B winner Trinidad and Tobago in the second slated fixture of the section.
Similarly maintaining their unbeaten run was the female outfit who dismissed Bermuda by a 4-1 score line in the girls team tourney on Wednesday at the same venue. In their opening matchup of the section, the female squad downed Trinidad and Tobago by an identical margin.
Due to their wins, the female unit tops group-A with two wins in two matches while Bermuda currently is positioned at the bottom of the group with two losses in as many matches. Trinidad and Tobago on the other hand, has one win and a defeat to secure the second position.
They will now enter the second round of the group stage, where they will lock horns with the eventual second placed unit in group-B.
Similarly, Trinidad and Tobago will face off with the eventual winner of group-B in the next round.
