Just three days after they were identified as the suspects into the murder of transgender sex worker Noel Wilson Luthers called ‘Nephi’, the police yesterday issued wanted bulletins for Ron Forde and Kanand Ojha.
The police said in the bulletins yesterday that Forde called ‘Andel’ and Ojha are wanted for questioning in relation to the investigations into the murder of Luthers which occurred on Wednesday, at Carmichael and Quamina streets, Georgetown.
According to the police, Forde is of African descent and his last known addresses are Lot 19 Meadow Bank, East Bank Demerara (EBD) and Lot 31 Rahaman’s Park, EBD. Ojha, is a businessman of East Indian descent and his last known address is Lot 2 First Street, Meadow Bank, EBD. Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the two men is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 225-8196, 226-7065, 227-1149, 911 or the nearest police station. All information will be treated with strict confidence, said the police.
Luthers, 20, of Lot ‘ZZ’ D’Urban Street, Wortmanville, was shot dead early Wednesday morning at Quamina and Carmichael streets, where he usually carried out his trade. Previous reports had indicated that the circumstances which led to his murder were that Luthers had a transaction with a man who demanded that his money be returned to him as he wasn’t pleased. Luthers refused and was shot during the ensuing argument.
The police had said that Luthers was confronted by two men at Quamina and Carmichael streets during which one of them shot him to the chest and they escaped. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum informed Stabroek News yesterday that police have visited the home of one of the suspects repeatedly but were unable to make any arrest since no one was ever at the premises. As a result, police decided to issue the wanted bulletins.
The men were identified in surveillance footage that was provided to the police.
