Relatives of a Mocha Arcadia man who was shot to his thigh in Tucville on July 14 are devastated after he succumbed to his injuries on Friday night at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
Ryan Clementson, 27, of Lot 317 Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara had remained at the hospital and underwent several surgeries prior to his death.
The man’s grieving mother Rosanna Gorrick told Stabroek News yesterday that she had spoken to her son just hours before she received a call from the hospital to inform her that he had passed away. She related that throughout the time Clementson had spent in the hospital, relatives had to collectively donate five pints of blood as he had sustained four gunshot wounds to his leg which had punctured a vital blood vessel and he was losing blood rapidly.
“He was healthy and alive. I spoke to him just a few hours (before) and he was good,” Gorrick said, while adding that prior to his sudden death, her son had spoken to her and complained about a severe fever, cold, and high blood pressure.
“I don’t understand how a healthy, strapping, six-foot grown man died from a shot to his leg,” Gorrick lamented. She related that after she visited the hospital, she was informed that her son was scheduled for another surgery and was given a shot of anesthetic and as a result, suffered from a cardiac arrest and died. An autopsy is to be done today.
On July 14th, Clementson and Ayodella Solomon, 32, of 13 ‘C’ Tucville, were in the vicinity of the Turning Point Snackette in Tucville when they were shot. Stabroek News had reported that Solomon was walking to his Tucville home when he stopped at the Snackette to greet his friend and heard a loud bang. He fell to the ground and heard several more gunshots. Solomon was subsequently taken to the hospital. Clementson was found sometime later under a nearby bridge by the police and was taken to the GPH where he was admitted and treated for a gunshot wound to his thigh.
Following his death, the police on Saturday issued a wanted bulletin for Edward Skeete called ‘Pretty Boy’ for questioning in relation to the murder. Skeete is known to the police as he had previously been charged with murder. He was accused of the murder of Industry businessman Bedi Ramjeiwan who was shot on April 27, 2011 after being beaten severely in the head with a helmet. Skeete was found not guilty earlier in the year by a 12-member jury.
According to the police, Skeete is of mixed descent and his last known address is Lot 309 Independence Boulevard, Albouystown, Georgetown.
