Self-confessed death squad member Shawn Hinds has turned himself over to the police but the police tonight said he is not cooperating.
In a statement tonight, the police said “So far he is not cooperating with the police as a number of questions have been put to him in the presence of his Lawyer and his consistent response has been that he has nothing to say, based on advice of his Lawyer.”
Stabroek News was informed that Hinds turned up at CID Headquarters in the company of prominent attorney, Nigel Hughes. He was being sought for information into recent revelations he made inclusive of the police supplying him with weapons and ranks being involved in the death of political activist and journalist Ronald Waddell.
Just over a week ago, Hinds came forth with the revelations claiming that he feared efforts were afoot to frame him for Courtney Crum-Ewing’s murder.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum had told Stabroek News in a previous interview that Hinds was not wanted for that murder but for another serious offence. He said that investigators were interested in speaking to Hinds about the revelations he has made.
