The new Giftland Sports Maxx, located at the Giftland Mall at Liliendaal, which recently opened its doors to the public yesterday opened its arms to the Boyce/Jefford Classic event which is billed for next month in Linden with the announcement of lucrative prizes for the winners of the 800m and 1500m events.
The company yesterday announced that it had entered into a partnership with the Boyce/ Jefford committee to reward outstanding athletes under its Under Armour and Asics brands at the August 15-16 meet at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
The deal will see the winners of the 800 and 1500m races earn US$250 with the second and third placed finishers set to receive US$150 and US$100 respectively.
The store will also outfit the winners of both events with apparel to the value of $50,000 each apparel which will include track suits, running gear, training gear and sneakers.
According to a press release from the organisers, Giftland Mall’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ian Ramdeo sees a long term relationship in the making adding that two outstanding athletes from the meet, one male and one female, will benefit from Giftland’s Ambassador Pro-gramme for one year.
Organisers of the event Colin Boyce and Edison Jefford stated that athletes’ performances off the field were just as important as on the field while welcoming the Sports Maxx initiative.
