(Trinidad Express) – Caribbean Airlines (CAL) has signed an interline deal with the world’s largest international airline-Emirates, which promises to make it easier for customers to travel the world.
The agreement is expected to be fully rolled out in the coming weeks, CAL stated in a press release on Wednesday.
According CAL, the arrangement gives customers greater choice of destinations, easy transfers in key airports such as London’s Gatwick and New York JFK.
Customers can also take advantage of through fares from Emirates’ extensive network via London and New York to Port of Spain, Georgetown, Kingston and Montego Bay.
“For example, a passenger travelling from Mumbai, India, can fly on one of Emirates six daily non-stop flights to their hub in Dubai, then connect to one of their three daily non-stop services to London Gatwick (including the 380’s) and then connect to one of Caribbean Airline’s four weekly non-stop flights to Port of Spain,” CAL explained.
The local airline’s vice president of commercial and customer service George Reeleder said CAL expressed excitement at the CAL’s move to expand its relationship with Emirates.
“Many people are unaware that Emirates carries more passengers to and from the Indian sub-continent than any other airline in the world, or that they fly to 19 cities on the African continent- all key markets for the Caribbean. Simpler transits and connections with more destination options will make it easier for our customers to travel the world,” he said.
CAL said it is looking forward to the opportunities that will become available through Emirates as the co-operative agreement unfolds.
CAL envisages that other markets will open up allowing passengers seamless transitions through some of the world’s largest cities.
