The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) League Qualifying Knockout Tournament will officially commence tomorrow at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Homestretch Avenue with two fixtures.
The five-day tourney which will be staged entirely at the aforesaid facility, will conclude on August 9th. The event will comprise two sections which will be the u-23 and Open Divisions.
In the Open Division, the teams according to their rank are (1) Dynas Ravens, (2) Trinity Grid Holdings (TGH) Pacesetters, (3) Colts, (4) Plaisance Guardians, (5) Knights, (6) Melanie Patriots, (7) the University of Guyana (UG) Trojans, (8) Republic Bank Nets, (9) Pepsi Sonics and (10) Eagles.
On the u-23 side, the competing teams are, (1) TGH Pacesetters, (2) Ravens, (3) Colts, (4) Plaisance Guardians, (5) Eagles, (6) Pepsi Sonics and (7) Patriots.
The opening night of the event will be an all u-23 affair as number two ranked Dynas Ravens will oppose the number seventh ranked Melanie Patriots from 18:00hrs. In the final fixture of the night, number four ranked Plaisance Guardians will tackle the fifth seeded Eagles from 20:00hrs.
On the second night of the event on Sunday August 2nd, the third seeded Colts will lock horns with the sixth seeded Pepsi Sonics in a u-23 affair from 18:00hrs while the second fixture of the night at 20:00hrs will pit the seventh ranked UG Trojans against the 10th ranked Eagles in an Open Divisional match.
In the final Open Divisional match of the night at 22:00hrs, eighth seeded Republic Bank Nets will oppose the ninth seeded Pepsi Sonics in a Mandela Avenue derby.
On the third night of the tourney on August 5th, the fourth ranked Plaisance Guardians will face off with Knights in an Open Divisional fixture from 18:00hrs while the final match at 20:00hrs will pit the third ranked Colts against the sixth seeded Melanie Patriots in an Open matchup.
Upon the conclusion of the first round of knockout fixtures, the event will continue on August 7th with three programmed matchups pending the results of the earlier fixtures.
