Two men suspected in an attack at the regional boathouse at Mabaruma, North West District, in which a boat and engine were stolen, were arrested yesterday.
According to a police statement, the attack occurred at about 1AM when the security guard on duty at the boathouse was confronted by two men, who took away a boat with a 200hp engine and escaped.
The police were informed and with support from the Guyana Defence Force Coast Guard, the two suspects were apprehended with the boat and engine in the Waini River, police added.
The men are expected to face charges shortly.
