ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC – The Grenada Cricket Association (GCA) has included three newcomers in a 13-member squad selected to participate in this year’s Windward Islands Two-day Cricket Tournament, starting in St Vincent later this month.
Windward Islands Under-19 captain all-rounder Ryan John, batsman Emmanuel Stewart and fast bowler Craig Phillip are the three newcomers to senior cricket, according to the GCA.
Fifteen year-old Stewart is now the first player from Carriacou to be selected on a Grenada senior national cricket team which will be led by West Indies opener Devon Smith.
The other members of the team are Andre Fletcher (vice-captain), Herron Campbell, Nickozi St Hillaire, Roland Cato, Denis Smith, Denis George, Deron Hypolite, Nelon Pascal and Josh Thomas.
The GCA said that fast bowler Preston McSween was not considered for selection because he will be on contract with the Barbados Pride.
The tournament will be played from August 20-27.
