A little boy is left hospitalized after he was knocked down by a speeding motorcycle yesterday afternoon.
Eight-year-old Orin Hunter, of Lot 19 Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, was returning home from visiting his grandmother in Helena when he was struck off his bicycle.
Sabrina Hunter, Orin’s mother, told Stabroek News last night that she was told by eyewitnesses that her son was carefully riding his bicycle along the Good Hope main road around 6 pm yesterday, when a speeding motorcycle came out of nowhere and hit Orin, throwing him off the bike and some distance along the road.
She said the residents of the area rendered assistance and rushed him to the Mahaicony hospital where he was treated. The woman said that while she was at the hospital, the rider of the motorcycle, whom she said was unlicensed, pleaded with her to not report the matter to the police.
The boy was then transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted. He is currently in a stable condition and investigations are currently ongoing as the rider of the motorcycle is in police custody.
