National Coach Garvin Nedd will bowl off his annual Cricket Summer Camp from August 10-22 at the Demerara Cricket Club Ground (DCC) from 9:00hrs, Mondays to Fridays.
Speaking with Stabroek Sports yesterday, Nedd, a former national off-spinner and seasoned coach said the camp will embody the areas of cricket off the field, some of which include; etiquette, public speaking along with other traits which upcoming crickets should be familiar with.
The first week will cater for roughly 60 students aged 8-13 according to Nedd while the second week will target the older kids whose ages range from 14-17. He also stated that weather permitting, matches will be played on the weekends as to ensure the children get hands-on experience of a cricket match.
In closing, “Tibbsy” as he is commonly called, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of members of DCC and the Guyana youth teams who made everyone proud by winning the Regional U15 and U19 titles. He also thanked the sponsors who have been behind DCC for the past nine years and who continue to play critical roles for the young players.
