Guyana’s International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Instructors/Assessors Stanley Lancaster, Abdullah Hamid and Trevor Beckles returned to local shores yesterday after participating in the FIFA Futuro 111 Course held for CONCACAF officials in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
According to an official release from the GFF, the programme which was commissioned during the period of July 28th-August 2nd, was utilized to update the world body on the progress and developments made by its officials within the CONCACAF region.
The document noted that the amended laws and the way forward as well as the expansion of the refereeing aspect of the discipline within the region was also discussed at the aforesaid course.
According to the correspondence, Head of the GFF Refereeing Department Lancaster noted that there were no modifications to the laws and regulations of the sport but an addition of the “Return Substitution’ and the use of Electronic Performance and Tracking Systems (EPTS)”.
The document further said “The ‘Return Substitution’ rule, which also provides for an unlimited amount of substitution, is only applicable and permitted in the lowest levels (grassroots and recreational) of football, subject to the agreement of the member association concerned”.
According to the document, Lancaster further said that the GFF plans to stage a similar course later in the month of August to bring all local referees and instructors up-to-date with the recent developments of the course.
