Ramharack eight-wicket haul propels hosts T&T – Guyana wins

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Off-spinner Karishma Ramharack claimed an amazing eight-wicket haul to steer Trinidad and Tobago to a convincing eight-wicket victory over Windward Islands South in the opening round of the Regional Women’s Super50 here yesterday.

Playing at Gilbert Park, the Windward Islands were dismissed for a paltry 89, with the 20-year-old Ramharack finishing with eight for 23.

Former West Indies player, Juliana Nero, top scored with 40 to be the only batsman to pass 20. She put on 48 for the second wicket with opener Cordel Jack who made 17, as WI South reached 51 for one at one stage.

Nero struck three fours off 81 balls.

However, once Ramharack went to work on the innings, WI South lost their last nine wickets for just 38 runs to be bowled out for 89 in the 30th over.

In reply, T&T coasted to their target in the 27th over with Felicia Walters hitting a top score of 42 not out, coming off 78 balls with two boundaries.

At the National Cricket Centre, West Indies player Shemaine Campbell struck an unbeaten half-century to help power Guyana to a five-wicket win over Windward Islands North.

Chasing 123 for the win, Guyana finished on 125 for five in the 37th over with Campbell hitting 59 not out off 93 deliveries with seven fours.

She put on 66 for the third wicket with opener Melanie Henry whose 25 required 73 balls.

 

Earlier, Quiana Joseph had top scored with 33 while Annica Andrew got 24, as Windward Islands North reached 122 for nine off their 50 overs.

Seamer Akaze Thompson claimed three for 28 while Erva Giddings (2-14) and Mandy Mangru (2-22) snared two wickets apiece.
