A former night shelter resident will be housed by prison authorities for next nine months after he pleaded guilty to stealing from the Malteenoes Sports Bar.
The charge against John Hercules, 38, stated that on August 8th, at Thomas Lands, he broke and entered Malteenoes Sports Bar and carted off $18,000 cash, a bottle of rum, a bottle of whiskey and two packs of cigarettes, all valued at $31,200 in total.
According to the prosecution, acting on information, police on patrol passed by the sports bar and saw Hercules leaving the premises with a bag that contained the stolen articles.
It was further related that after being cautioned, Hercules admitted to breaking into the bar and removing the items.
Hercules opted to remain silent when presiding Magistrate Ann McLennan inquired if he had anything else to say in relation to the charge.
