A man was on Wednesday charged with failing to complying with a High Court order and attempting to defraud another man after he sold a vehicle that was at the centre of a legal dispute.
According to the charges against him, Patrick King attempted to defraud Munilall Ramcharan by selling the vehicle on October 5th, 2014, at Somerset and Berks, East Coast Essequibo.
The prosecution said the dispute over the car was before the High Court in 2012 and an order was made for King to return it to Ramcharan or pay him $2 million. Instead of adhering to the court order, King sold the car to another man, the prosecutor said.
However, King’s attorney, Adrian Thompson, told the court that Ramcharan’s reason for making the allegation against his client stems from King owing the man money.
While the prosecutor objected, bail was granted to King in the sum of $100,000 and the matter was adjourned until August 17th, when it will be called at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court.
