The government is working on a project to incorporate the National Data Management Authority (NDMA) into its E-Governance operations, the Ministry of the Presidency announced yesterday.
According to a ministry statement, on Friday, Minister of State Joseph Harmon visited the NDMA’s University of Guyana Turkeyen location, where he was briefed on the operations of the unit.
During the encounter, Harmon assured NDMA General Manager Godfrey Proctor that the government’s review of the public service Information Communication Technology would restore the Authority and similar bodies so that they could play a meaningful role in the administration’s E-Governance initiatives.
Proctor, the statement noted, informed Harmon that the NDMA has not had a board appointed in over two decades and the situation has severely affected its work. Proctor pointed out that while the NDMA was set up to do training for the public sector and still has the capacity to do so, it has been underutilised for many years.
Harmon stated that he will bring the NDMA and the government’s E-Governance project under a single administrative system and promised that a board of directors will be appointed to assist in guiding the work of the NDMA.
