(Trinidad Express) CONCACAF has given the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) a bailout loan to cover its administration expenses, following notification on Monday from world football’s governing body FIFA, that it had halted funding to the local body until yearly audited accounts are presented. (See other story on page 27.)
The TTFA is also in the process of recruiting a new audit firm to comply with that request.
“CONCACAF is aware of all that has happened and they have decided to give us a loan to pay those salaries,” was TTFA president Raymond Tim Kee’s response to the Trinidad Express’ enquiries yesterday.
“CONCACAF have already sent the money. It had to be cleared, and our staff will probably get their salary today or tomorrow,” Tim Kee added.
FIFA on Monday gave the local Association notification of a halt to its annual US$250,000 subvention under the Financial Assistance Programme. The TTFA uses the funding mainly to run its office, pay staff and its general secretary Sheldon Phillips. Due in July, the non-release of funds has resulted in TTFA staff not being paid.
