Dear Editor,
Your August 16 paper carried a statement reported to have been made by Ms Pauline Sukhai, former Minister of amerindian affairs that she was entitled to her $2.1M dental treatment at the public’s expense, and her illogical conclusion that Indigenous people did not object because her party, the PPP, won the hinterland regions in the last elections where most Amerindians reside.
So here we have a lady presiding over a ministry with the radio antenna broken and for years straddling the ministry’s roof as well as guttering hanging slapdash off the car port, giving one the impression that whoever is in charge doesn’t give a damn if the place looks like a shanty. But we had a lady in charge with a million-dollar smile.
Toshaos take notice. The antenna has been removed from the roof and the guttering repaired.
Who cares more, Sydney or Pauline?
Yours faithfully,
Edward Gonsalves
