(Trinidad Guardian) West Indies coach Phil Simmons has not turned his back on the senior players and has been negotiating with them to return to the Test team. West Indies all rounder and T&T Red Steel captain Dwayne Bravo flew to Barbados last weekend to meet with Simmons to discuss his future in the regional set-up.
The pair met during the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 tournament in Barbados but on that occasion Bravo said that the conditions were not right to return. Bravo and Keiron Pollard have been sidelined since the aborted tour of India last October.
Bravo was removed as captain of the ODI team and lost his place in the side. Pollard also lost his place but both were selected in a T20 series against South Africa earlier this year, prior to the ODI World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The West Indies next international assignment is against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka where they will play two Test matches, three ODIs and two T20 matches from October 1 to November 13 and Simmons is trying to lure his senior players back.
The meeting between Bravo and Simmons was cordial but the pair was not able to move closer to a deal
