SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, CMC – W Connection’s poor run in the CONCACAF Champions League continued on Thursday when they crashed to a 4-0 defeat to Deportivo Saprissa.
Playing in their second game of the competition, the Trinidadian outfit conceded two goals in each half to fall to their second successive 4-0 loss following their whipping at the hands of Santos Laguna in their first round game earlier this month in Torreón.
Their latest defeat left them bottom of Group A without a point or a goal to their name, and virtually in need of a miracle to make it out the preliminary stage.
Deyver Vega opened the scoring in the 31st minute Estadio Ricardo Saprissa Aymá after evading a defender in the box and slotting past goalkeeper Julani Archibald.
Five minutes before the break, David Guzman added a second when a rebound fell to the 25-year-old who made no mistake from close range.
Already behind by two goals at the break, W Connection suffered even more anguish when they conceded a third goal in the 69th through substitute David Ramirez.
On the field for only five minutes, Ramirez pounced on a loose ball to net after Archibald had spilled an initial volley from Mynor Escoe.
