Dr Nigel Gravesande, a former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Tourism here has been appointed the new Registrar of the University of Guyana (UG).
A UG release yesterday said that Gravesande, an alumnus of the University, will commence duties today.
Gravesande replaces Vincent Alexander.
According to biodata supplied by UG, Gravesande has nearly three decades experience at executive/senior levels in tertiary education, the public and private sectors and diplomacy.
He served as permanent secretary here between 1991 and 1993 during British-led reforms to the public service.
The biodata said that he has a Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) Degree (1977) , Master of Arts (M.A.) Degree (1981) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in International Relations (2009).
