GPHC successfully delivered 3075 babies between January and July

The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) successfully delivered 3,075 babies between January 1st this year and July 31st, a release from the hospital said yesterday.

Another 50 babies were recorded as stillbirths.

Out of the total deliveries, 657 babies were born to teenage mothers ranging from under 14 to 19 years old.

During the same period last year, the release said that the hospital successfully delivered 3151 babies out of its 3207 deliveries as 56 were stillbirths. Out of the total deliveries last year, 673 babies were born to teenage mothers.

The release said that deliveries in January 2015 surpassed the other months with a total of 565 babies being delivered while for the same period last year, April had the highest amount of deliveries with a total of 501 babies being born at the GPHC.

The GPHC’s maternity ward admitted a total of 5092 patients during this period, the release added.
