New Tender Board holds first meeting

The newly-appointed National Procure-ment and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) held its first meeting yesterday.

Lavern Lawrence and members Trevor Baird, Bernard Lord, Ron Rahaman and Lauren Grant–Williams.

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) report, the inaugural meeting was held to address the backlog of matters awaiting the NPTAB’s approval.

It added that the board intends to use the best practices methodology to achieve transparency and accountability by promoting competition, providing fair and equitable treatment, promoting integrity and improving public confidence in the public procurement process.

The report said the new board is supported by an operational staff headed by Chief Executive Officer Donald De Clou and nine officers. During the inaugural meeting, which was held in the Boardroom of the Ministry of Finance, Wickham is reported as saying that the board recognises that there are challenges in dealing with the current workload but remains optimistic that it will be able deliver.
