Robin Persaud returned to his winning ways yesterday after spiriting off with the spoils of the feature 35-lap event of yesterday’s 39th annual NSC sponsored 11-race programme.
In perfect conditions for racing on the inner circuit of the National Park, the 40-year old took pole position in a brisk one hour 16 minutes and 32 seconds.
Junior Niles and his Team Coco’s club mate, Jamal John joined Persaud on the podium for the event which brought the curtains down on the annual Teach Them Young Cycling clinic which is coordinated by Hassan Mohamed.
Team Alanis’ Paul DeNobrega, who suffered a puncture on the final 300m of the race, had to settle for fourth while Raul Leal (Team Gillette Evolution) and DeNobrega’s club mate Paul Choo-We-Nam occupied the top six paid positions from the field of 11 starters.
Of the eight sprint prizes, DeNobrega snared three, Niles and John pocketed two apiece while the other went to Persaud.
Other winners on the programme included: Alex Leung (BMX 6-9 years), Zab James (9-12), Thuran Garbarran (12-14), Ronaldo Narine (12-14 Boys and Girls), Jude Bentley (Veteran U-50), Linden Blackman (Veteran U-50), John (Juveniles) and Marcus Keiler (Mountain Bike)
Adelia Hodge was gifted a new bicycle compliments of Ricks and Sari Agro Industries for being the best rider of the camp.
Administrator of the NSC, Gervy Harry, was on hand to assist in the presentation of prizes.
