Fresh off of losing the I-Net Communications U13 final to Santos on Saturday, Fruta Conquerors rebounded in emphatic manner, downing Renaissance FC on sudden death kicks when the inaugural Tannehill U15 club championships concluded yesterday.
Staged at the Tucville Community ground, the home side defeated their East Ruimveldt counterparts by a 2-1 margin on sudden death kicks after the normal time interval finished at 2-2. Due to the win, Fruta Conquerors received the championship trophy, medals and book-bags filled with school supplies.
Renaissance FC walked away with the second place trophy.
Jeremy Garett of Fruta Conquerors was adjudged the event’s most valuable player as well as the highest goal scorer while the best midfielder prize went to Orwin Garraway of the newly crowned champions.
The best goalkeeper and defender prizes went to Santos FC and Renaissance FC respectively.
In the earlier third place playoff, Santos FC defeated Alpha United by a 3-0 score line. Due to their win, Santos received the third place accolade.
In the earlier group fixtures of the tournament, Renaissance FC crushed Santos by a 3-0 score line while Fruta Conquerors defeated Pele FC 2-0. In the other results, Renaissance crushed Sunburst Camptown 2-0 while Fruta Conquerors dismissed Alpha United 3-0.
In other group results, Santos in their earlier fixture, crushed Sunburst Camptown by a 3-0 score line while Alpha United defeated Pele FC after the latter was found guilty of playing an overaged player during their scoreless draw.
