Realtor Harold Anthony Reid, who is more popularly known as Tony Reid, died from a heart attack last Thursday at the Georgetown Public Hospi-tal Corporation (GPHC).
Reid, who was 60, had checked into the hospital the afternoon before.
The veteran realtor checked into the institution for a cut sustained from a bottle fragment. He had struggled over the years with diabetes.
A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death.
His sister, Margret Budram, mentioned that they waited four hours before a bed was available in the emergency ward for him. She said during the wait her brother had to be accommodated in a wheelchair due to the ward being overcrowded.
Originally from Best Village, Reid started his career at the Guyana National Co-operative Bank (GNCB) in 1973. After attending the Univer-sity of Guyana in the 1980s, he entered the world of real estate in 1985 and established himself as one of the more prominent relators in Guyana.
He established Tony Reid’s Realty in 1992 to provide real estate and financial services to the Guyanese public. The goal was to provide real estate property, luxurious property for rental, lands, waterfront lots, as well as all homes available in the Prashad Nagar and Bel Air Park areas.
The latter part of his life was spent at 129 Duncan Street.
The funeral for the late Harold Reid is scheduled for Saturday at Central Baptist Church George-town from 2 pm.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Reid, and two sons, Terrance and Michael Reid. His brothers carry on the legacy of Tony Reid’s Realty.
