A shop owner yesterday appeared before a city court on a charge that he stole a car and a cellphone.
Linden Hodge, 43, of 63 Cross Street, Alexander Village, was remanded to prison after being accused of robbing Mervin Persaud of a car, valued $2,000,000, and a Blackberry Curve smartphone, valued $10,000.
Prosecutor Neville Jeffers said the car was recovered on the East Bank of Demerara.
Hodge, who was said to be in the company of another and armed with a gun during the attack on Persaud, pleaded not guilty.
Bail was denied and Magis-trate Ann McLennan adjourned the matter to September 8th, when it is due to be heard at Court 10.
