Sophia youth remanded on gun, ammo charges

A young man was remanded to prison yesterday after being charged with the unlawful possession of a pistol and live ammunition.

It is alleged that on August 28th, 21-year-old Fredrick Boyce, of Sophia, had in his possession a Taurus pistol and seven live rounds of ammunition, while not being a licensed firearm holder.

Boyce pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Neville Jeffers, who prosecuted the case, informed the court that the file was missing a ballistics report and was therefore incomplete.

Magistrate Ann McLennan remanded Boyce to prison until September 14th, when his case will be called again.
