A carpenter employed by the Ministry of Education was yesterday placed on $100,000 bail after denying a charge of cannabis possession.
It is alleged that on August 31st, Damien Eddie, 21, of Lot 50 Middle Street, McDoom, was found in possession of 8.3 grammes of cannabis. The accused, who was represented by attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Fung-A-Fat, in his bid to win his client bail, informed the court that Eddie had never been in trouble with the law before. The attorney further stated that the cannabis did not belong to his client and had in fact been found hidden in a pile of clothes in the house Eddie shares with his brother, his brother’s wife and their children.
Eddie was placed on $100,000 bail by Magistrate Ann McLennan and the matter was adjourned to September 21st, when it will be heard at Georgetown Magis-trate’s Court 11.
