Leader of the Opposition Bharrat Jagdeo yesterday said that the government remains in election mode and as a result the PPP/C could not be expected to immediately take part in bipartisan committees proposed by President David Granger except for the one on the border.
He told Stabroek News yesterday that “we can’t talk about social cohesion when large amounts of people are losing their jobs and they [government] are not giving credible information why they are losing their jobs except in our view because of their race or political affiliation.”
The former President said that it was preposterous to be sitting side by side in a committee every day talking about social cohesion while the government is on the other hand making charges against the opposition that there was widespread theft of resources under the PPP/C.
He said that it was his personal view that while the government was still in campaign mode the
