Jonathan Fooโs unbeaten half-century led Albion Community Centre to a comfortable seven wicket victory over Edinburgh this past weekend when the 2015 Berbice Bridge Company Inc first division 50-Over knockout competition continued in Berbice.
The ex-Guyana T20 batsman hit six fours and two sixes in his 61 while Guyana Under-17 batsman Adrian Sukwah contributed 36 as the two shared a 75-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Edinburgh only managed 112 all out in 42.3 overs due to a collective spin bowling effort from ex-Guyana under-19 off-spinner Sharaz Ramcharran, (2-41), Daniel Lewis (2-2) and Guyana U19 off-spinner Balchand Baldeo (2-13). Jeeraish De Jees (22) was the top score for the losing team.
In reply, Sukwah and Foo took Albion to 114 for 3 in just 18 overs with Edinburghโs Shafiek Khan collecting 2wickets for 4runs. Blairmont Community Centre for their part advanced after Bush Lot Rising Star had to withdraw from their first round match. Currently, Albion Community Centre, Young Warriors, Port Mourant, Police and Blairmont Community Centre have now joined Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets as the other teams to advance to the second round.
The competition continues this weekend with the three second round matches tomorrow, one of which will feature Young Warriors and Police vying for advancement at Cumberland. On Sunday Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets will play Port Mourant at Rose Hall Town and Albion Community Centre will meet Blairmont Community Centre at Albion.
