A team from the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Special Forces yesterday descended into the Kaieteur Gorge to continue the search to locate tourist
, who was reported missing at Kaieteur National Park on Tuesday.
“The search is very dangerous as they have to carefully navigate their way through the extremely rugged and rocky area and the Kaieteur Falls at full flow,” the Ministry of the Presidency said in a statement last evening.
Up to 4pm yesterday, there was no further word on their efforts, the ministry added.
The search operation was launched by the Kaieteur National Park Rangers after it was discovered that Sivanand had gone missing from a tour group late Tuesday.
The search was expanded on Wednesday, when the Kaieteur National Park search team was joined by members of the Police Force and the GDF and all trails on Kaieteur Top were searched.
