Dear Editor,
Allow me to congratulate the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association for honouring some of our boxers who have kept the Golden Arrowhead flying. The naming of competitions after former fights is the first step in a long journey to properly recognize those who excelled in the fistic sport. It is important that we remember, respect and pay homage to those pugilists. It is of equal importance for our younger fighters to have knowledge of those who came before then, their struggles and their achievements. However, it is plain to see that so little is known of our former fighters that a photograph of American Aaron Pryor was used to depict our own Lennox Blackmoore in your Sunday issue. The journey has started to correct that. Hopefully, in due time the Cesar Barrows, Patrick Fords, Terrence Allis, Brian Mullers, Lennox Beckles, Kenny Bristols and many others would have their names and contributions to the sport remembered.
Yours faithfully,
R Trim
