The ruggers from the UG Wolves/ Pepsi Hornets won a scrappy game against the GDF/Caribs outfit 47-35 when the teams met yesterday in the 10-a-side pre-season match at the National Park.
In the error strewn encounter, UG student, Ryan Dey scored a career high six tries to propel the former over the militia men and the Caribs.
The Wolves/Hornets unit had most of possession and even more of the territory, but failed to use it effectively in the overcast conditions. Nevertheless, winger Dey came alive in the second half to string together a series of tries for the men in blue and red.
The pre-season matches which will be used as a precursor to the Banks 7s will continue next weekend at the same venue.
