A South Ruimveldt man yesterday found himself before a city court facing drug trafficking charges after police allegedly found a quantity of cannabis at his grandmother’s house.
It is alleged that on September 10, Keshon Rhobe, while at Providence, had in his possession 30 grammes of cannabis for trafficking.
Rhobe, 26, of 172 Priority Place, South Ruimveldt, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The accused was defended by attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat, who told the court that his client had been visiting the Providence residence where his grandmother lives when the find was made. The attorney, in his plea for bail, stated that the cannabis had not even been found in Rhobe’s possession, but had in fact been found in a vacant lot nearby.
Prosecutor Deniro Jones countered this claim and stated that the cannabis had been found in the yard where Rhobe was staying.
Magistrate Ann McLennan placed Rhobe on $200,000 bail and adjourned the matter to September 28, when it will be heard at the Providence Magistrate’s Court.
