The National Milling Company of Guyana (Namilco) has partnered with the Guyana Book Foundation to aid in its literacy drive in observance of Education Month. To this end, Namilco recently handed over a cheque to the Guyana Book Foundation to provide reading materials for the Houston Nursery School, which is located in the same neighbourhood as Namilco. According to a release, the Guyana Book Foundation was established in 1986 and its primary mission is to improve children’s literacy throughout Guyana. This charitable organization works in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and corporate entities to provide low cost and no-cost books, reading material and other educational resources to nursery, primary and secondary schools in all regions.
