A knockout weekend of boxing starts tonight under the bright lights of the East Ruimveldt Community Centre ground.
“Tremendous action is on the cards,” said Technical Director of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) Terrence Poole yesterday.
According to Poole, in excess of 60 boxers will be representing the 10 gyms competing in the inaugural two-day Lennox Blackmore Intermediate Championships.
“This championships is stiffer than Novices and Novices was very entertaining so patrons can look forward to two punch filled nights of boxing,” Poole promised.
The pugilists, who will be competing for trophies and medals, will come from the gyms such as the Carryl Boxing Gym, Essequibo Boxing Gym, Forgotten Youth Foundation, GDF, Republican, Pocket Rocket Gym, Rose Hall Jammers, the New Opportunity Corps and the Young Achievers Gym.
Bell time is 19:00hrs nightly.
