Dear Editor,
Two months ago residents of Wakenaam signed a petition calling for the immediate removal of a Neighbourhood police officer. We had outlined in the petition evidence of corrupt practices as the primary grounds for the removal of this officer. Two investigators came to the island and took statements from the signatories, and were provided with additional information as to the need for the immediate removal of the said officer. About a month ago I personally spoke to the commander of G division who said that the file had gone to DPP.
Editor, the above begs the question, why the slothfulness? We are now frustrated and are therefore demanding the intervention of the Minister of Public Security. Mr Khemraj Ramjattan has a copy of the petition.
I find it strange that there should be dismissals and transfers of real police officers and yet slothfulness in dismissing a Neighbourhood police officer.
