Ron ‘Andel’ Forde, the man who was charged with the murder of transgender sex worker Noel Wilson Luthers over one month ago, was on Friday further remanded to prison when he appeared before Magis-trate Ann McLennan.
Forde first appeared in the Georgetown Magis-trates’ Courts’ on August 13 and was not required to plead to the capital offence of murder.
He is accused of murdering Luthers on July 22, at Quamina and Carmi-chael streets, Georgetown. He was remanded to prison.
During Friday’s hearing, police prosecutor Neville Jeffers informed the court that the case file is incomplete and there are still some outstanding issues in relation to the matter that are yet to be addressed. As a result, he made an application for an adjournment date which was granted.
Forde is expected to make his next court appearance on October 19.
Luthers, a resident of Lot ZZ D’Urban Street, Wortmanville, was shot and killed allegedly by Forde in the wee hours of the morning at Quamina and Carmichael streets.
The police, in a press release, had stated that at around 2.35 am on July 22, Luthers was confronted by two men at Quamina and Carmichael streets and one of them shot him to the chest and escaped. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
There are conflicting reports about what led to the shooting. It has been suggested that one of the men engaged Luthers but demanded that his money be returned to him as he was not pleased with the service rendered.
However, it has also been reported that Luthers was shot due to him being mistakenly identified. The altercation was caught on video, which police used to identify Forde and businessman Kanand Ojha, who was with him at the time and has been identified as a suspect in the crime. Ojha remains on the run.
