Half centuries from former national youth batsmen Anthony D’Andrade and Joemal LaFleur led Tucber Park (formerly Bermine) to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Port Mourant Cricket Club (PMCC) in their second round match of the Bobby Deonarine/Tom Gruntzel/Tenelec Incorporated limited overs competition in Berbice.
At Port Mourant, the home team won the toss, batted first and made 189 all out with Lloydel Lewis top scoring with 45.
PMCC skipper Arif Chan chipped in with 32, Ameer Khan 26 and Berbice junior pacer Dimitri Cameron 21.
Bowling for Tucber Park, Joemal LaFleur took 3-37 and Kevin Pellew 2 for 43. In reply, the visitors reached 189 for 2 in 37.3 overs. D’Andrade struck a firm 73 while the talented all-rounder LaFleur scored 63 and Devon Clements an unbeaten 24.
At Cumberland, East Canje, Kwesi Mickle churned out a fine all-round performance to help Police demolish Bush Lot Rising Star by 159 runs.
Police won the toss, batted and rattled up 269 all out in 42 of the allotted 45 overs.
Mickle, 58, Brentnol Woolford 42, Albert Sinclair 35, Norwayne Fredericks 28 and Curt Griffith 27, were the principal scorers.
Bowling for Bush Lot Rising Stars, Troy McKenzie took 3 for 51, national U-15 off spinner Nivindra Prashad, 3 for 41 and Javed Saywack 2 for 32.
