A North Ruimveldt youth who was arrested over robbing an acquaintance, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was also charged with escaping from lawful custody.
Delon Joseph called “Hotskull” denied that on September 7, he escaped from the East La Penitence police station after being arrested for allegedly robbing David Christian of his cellphone. He also pleaded not guilty to robbing Christian.
In relation to the robbery charge, Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves told the court that on September 1, in the vicinity of North Ruimveldt, Joseph confronted Christian and demanded that he hand over his cellphone. Before the man could comply, Joseph snatched the cellphone and escaped. Gonsalves related that the complainant and the accused were known to each other prior to the incident.
After being briefed on the matter, Magistrate Alex Moore ordered the case adjourned to October 10 as the court awaits the reports necessary for completion of the file.
