Former public works minister Robeson Benn and Attorney Bibi Shadick were sworn in on Tuesday at the Ministry of the Presidency to represent the opposition PPP on the Guyana Elections Commission (Gecom).
Benn and Shadick replace Mohamood Shaw and Athmaram Mangar and along with Sase Gunraj, Vincent Alexander, Charles Corbin and Sandra Jones make up the elections commission.
GINA quoted President David Granger as saying after the swearing in, “Gecom is now back up to strength and is capable of discharging its responsibilities, I’m quite sure that you are impressed with the words of the Oath and I’m confident that the commissioners will discharge their duties without fear or favour, affection or ill will.”
