The Bartica United Youth Develop-ment Group is calling on the government to urgently establish a police outpost between the Four and Five Miles housing scheme on the Bartica-Potaro Road to reduce the number of burglaries in the area which are on the increase. In the space of one month three cases of burglary occurred at the Four Miles housing scheme and two shops, while three bandits who were wearing face masks entered the house of a female resident and assaulted her.
In the past a number of similar cases of robbery and burglary occurred at the Four Miles scheme.
A police outpost is needed since the Bartica police station is located in central Bartica, five to six miles away from the housing scheme.
