The curtain will come down on the Sydroy Nedd Memorial 60th birth anniversary 7-a-side Inter-Ward football tournament under lights with the quarter-final, semi-final and final being staged today at the Den Amstel ground, West Demerara.
The event, which commenced Sunday at the same venue, is being played in the memory of the late West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) and Uitvlugt FC President Nedd. In the opening quarter-final encounter, Wales will lock horns with Grove from 16:30hrs.
The second quarter-final matchup will then pit Pouderoyen against Sara Lodge from 17:00hrs while the third matchup in the section will witness Uitvlugt facing off with Goed Fortuin from 17:30hrs. In the final match of the section, home side Den Amstel will lock horns with Stewartville from 18:00hrs.
In the resulting semi-final stage, the winner of the match-1 will faceoff with the winner of match-3 from 19:00hrs while the second semi-final fixture will pit match-2 victor against the winner of match-4 from 20:00hrs.
The resulting final will then be staged at 21:30hrs between the resulting semi-final winners whilst the traditional third place playoff will occur at 21:00hrs between the losing semi-finalists.
Prior to the third place playoff, an exhibition encounter will be contested between the Georgetown Masters and the West Demerara Masters at 20:30hrs.
Winner of the tourney will walk away with $100,000 and the championship accolade while the resulting runners-up will pocket $50,000 and the respective trophy. The third and four placed sides will collect $30,000 and $20,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
