The Guyana Volleyball Federation on Tuesday presented a quantity of equipment to the Buxton Youth Developers School.
The presentation was done by president of the GVF John Flores, who suggested that there is a realistic possibility that the sport can develop so rapidly in the community that they just might be able to field
Senior and junior teams at local competitions.
Robin Phillips received the equipment (a quantity of balls and a net) on behalf of the Institution and said he was heartened by the donation adding that the net will replace the old equipment currently in use by the 94 children at the institution.
He said Fridays and Saturdays are set aside for sports and the boys and girls, between the ages of 6 to 18 will soon begin to benefit from the equipment.
Flores said that the GVF intends to continue its expansion drive although they are still to announce the next destination for the donation of equipment.
According to Flores, a league tournament for male and female elite teams and the Tradewind Tankers International tournament are scheduled for October and November respectively.
