A shoemaker was yesterday freed of a marijuana trafficking charge after the prosecution failed to prove that he knew he had the drug in his possession.
Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday dismissed the case against Keoma Gravesande, who had been charged along with Rockel Accra in April with possession of cannabis for trafficking.
Magistrate Latchman, who is presiding over the trial of the two accused, announced that the prosecution did, however, establish a prima facie case against Accra, who faced two charges.
Gravesande and Accra were charged jointly with having in their possession 166 grammes of cannabis for trafficking, on March 30th, at Cocorite Street, East La Penitence. Accra was also accused of having an additional 39 grammes of cannabis, also for trafficking.
The case will be called next Monday, when Accra will be called upon to lead her defence.
