An unidentified man died at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) Accident & Emergency Unit after he was injured in a crash that occurred on the Good Hope Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara (ECD) yesterday morning.
While it is unclear how the accident occurred, up to late yesterday afternoon, no relatives of the man had turned up at the hospital. However, this newspaper was informed that he sustained serious head injuries.
The driver of the motor vehicle, according to reports, is the owner of a popular auto sales company located on the East Coast.
The police in a press release today said that aT about 1030h. yesterday the pedal cyclist was struck down by a motor vehicle on the Good Hope Embankment, ECD. He was taken to the GPHC where he later succumbed while receiving medical treatment.
The pedal cyclist is of East Indian descent and is so far unidentified. The body is at the hospital’s mortuary.
The driver of the motor vehicle is in police custody assisting with the investigations, the police said.
