Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League outfit Fruta Conquerors officially adopted their new constitution on Friday at their Tucville Club, in the process paving the way for their election to be held on October 18th.
Club Secretary Daniel Thomas during an invited comment said: “It is in keeping with the mandate of the GFF Normalization Committee for all clubs to come in line with what was prescribed by the GFF and we are happy to confirm with the request.” According to Thomas: “We had a good turnout and we went through the constitution and what we felt needed to be amended, we amended and subsequently the membership adopted the new constitution. “We feel it’s something that is needed and if other clubs can do the same sooner rather than later as it adheres to the structure that is needed in football where clubs have defined structures and it starts with a constitution,” he added.
The meeting, which commenced at 17:00hrs, was attended by several members of the club’s executive committee as well as many players of the junior and senior roster.
To date, the only other Elite club that has acknowledged to have adopted their new constitution is Pele FC.
However, the East Bank Football Association, Georgetown Football Association, Bartica Football Association, Essequibo Football Association and Upper Demerara Football Association have adopted their respective new constitutions.
The official timeline for the GFF Constitution Reform and Congress states that meetings for adoption of each member’s new constitution should conclude by September 25th.
The timeline further stated that meetings to elect new executive committee of members should occur by October 30th, with the GFF congress programmed to be held November 14th.
