The driver of a car was arrested after he drove away from police and was later stopped and found with an unlicensed gun.
According to a police press release, yesterday a motorist was stopped by traffic ranks on Thomas Street, Georgetown but subsequently sped away after the police approached him. After other ranks were notified, the man was stopped by a mobile police patrol and a search was carried out on his vehicle. An unlicensed .38 revolver with six matching rounds, four 9 mm rounds, and two .32 rounds were found.
The man is currently in police custody and will be charged sometime in the week.
