The Central Housing and Planning Authority ( CH&PA) says that it was informed that its Regional Housing Office, Region 6, located at the Regional Democratic Council Building, Vrymen’s Erven, New Amsterdam was broken into over the weekend of the 26th -27thSeptember 2015.
A statement from the CH&PA today said that bandits gained entry through the louvered window by cutting the mesh and carried away the safe containing all of the Region’s Transports and Certificates of Title, some lot numbers for Region No. 5 and an imprest of $4, 000.00.
The Regional Housing Officer, Region 6 made a report to the New Amsterdam Police Station and gave a written statement to the said office. Officers of the said Police station responded by visiting the office to conduct their investigation, the statement said.
The CH&PA wishes to inform that Public that it only recently recorded each Transport and Certificate of Title contained in the safe. The individual lists will be forwarded to the Deeds Registry and Land Registry, respectively. The CH&PA has requested of the Registries not to undertake any transaction relating to any of the listed properties until the safe has been recovered and the documents found.
The CH&PA said it is encouraging all public spirited citizens who may have knowledge of or may find a safe within their vicinity to please report same to the nearest Police Station.
The CH&PA is appealing to the persons who are responsible for this senseless act to return the safe since the contents are legal documents. Any use or misuse of any of the documents found in the safe is punishable by law, it warned.
